A Dynamic Jewish Community on PEI
About Us
The Prince Edward Island Jewish Community (PEIJC) has been a gathering place for Jewish life since 1982 and was formally organized in 1993.
We are a warm, welcoming community dedicated to celebrating Jewish traditions, culture, and values right here on PEI.
We are a small, diverse, and cooperatively-run community of about 100 year-round households and another 50 seasonal households, representing approximately 175 Jews. The PEIJC is unaffiliated with any particular branch of Judaism and includes families of mixed faiths and backgrounds.
As a grassroots organization without a synagogue or rabbi, we come together throughout the year for social, cultural, and religious gatherings. Jewish holidays are celebrated with community-led services, often in members' homes, creating an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness.
We offer a truly hamishe (from Yiddish: homey, warm) environment where Island Jews and visitors can meet, connect, and share in Jewish life.
We’d love to welcome you—come and be part of our vibrant community!
